More than 200 remarkable professionals comprise KIPP NYC’s team and family, including 155 teachers and 45 non-instructional staff.By 2014, after launching four elementary schools and building out our high school, our staff will grow to more than 350.
Teachers
Our teachers are a diverse and talented group, ranging in age from 22 to 63. They include a professional magician, former college basketball coach, stand-up comic, Peace Corps volunteers, marathon runners, Scrabble players, music lovers, writers and college football fans. Some of us are single, others are married, many have kids. Our ranks include graduates from a wide variety of colleges and universities, including UC Berkeley, University of Oregon, Georgetown, Oberlin, SUNY, Julliard, Howard, University of Maryland, Duke and Florida A&M.
Other Professionals
It takes many other committed, capable professionals to make KIPP NYC successful.
- Social workers, counselors, speech therapists, office managers and school operations directors all play a central role in serving students and families at KIPP NYC schools.
- A dedicated team of KIPP Through College advisors provides guidance and support to KIPP NYC alumni.
- The Shared Services Team (SST) delivers a broad range of support services and resources to KIPP NYC schools and programs. SST functions include Data, Development, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, Recruiting and Technology.
Our non-instructional staff have come to KIPP NYC from many jobs and backgrounds – from social service organizations, public school systems, education reform groups, finance, media, consulting and information technology.
