Collaboration with families is essential to the success of our students – it’s woven into the DNA of everything we do.
Through phone calls, emails, home visits, and parent-teacher conferences, KIPP NYC schools regularly communicate with parents about student progress. Families are asked regularly to review student work and progress (as well as “paychecks” at some schools, which are performance-based rewards).
Our schools also frequently host family events including potluck dinners, student performances, award and advancement ceremonies, student work exhibitions, school dances and banquets and joint student-parent Saturday School sessions. Parents have an open invitation to visit school anytime and to volunteer to chaperone field trips throughout the year.
For any families wanting additional support, KIPP NYC social workers and counselors organize workshops and help families identify community resources.
