KIPP Through College means just that – through college. Helping our alumni navigate the college journey is at the heart of what we do.
KTC College Advisors. Advisors maintain relationships with our alumni, track their academic progress, assess their needs and support them in resolving social, academic or financial issues that might cause them to leave school before graduation. KTC also convenes college-based alumni for career preparation, peer support and networking events.
College Scholars. To better support students who attend college in the NYC area, KTC launched the College Scholars Work Study Program in 2007. The program includes academic advising, mentoring and workshops on college, career and personal development topics. College Scholars participants receive a stipend that allows them to focus on their studies and not be distracted by work commitments. The program is run in semester modules and our data indicates consistent GPA growth for every College Scholar in every semester that they attend and complete the program.
KIPP Opportunity Fund. In addition to providing mentoring, tutoring and problem solving assistance, KTC also offers limited financial assistance to our alumni. Through the KIPP Opportunity Fund, KTC grants qualifying alumni book stipends and other modest support to supplement scholarships and loans from other sources.
